Portrait of the Artist (Grades 7-9)

This activity encourages middle and high school students to use visual arts to reflect on their mental health and emotional well-being. Using color, symbolism, and abstract shapes, students will create “Emotional Portraits,” which are self-portraits that symbolize how they feel mentally and emotionally. The activity aims to foster self-awareness, emotional expression, and discussion about mental health in a supportive environment.
