For Teachers & YOUTH LEADERS

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1 in 7 young people aged 10-19 experience a mental disorder yearly. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that number to be as many as 1 out of 5 aged 13 - 18 in the United States.

The need for action is more urgent than ever before.

In partnership with Discovery Education and InnerView, Creative Visions invites teachers and youth leaders to engage their students aged 11-18 in the #CreateConnectCare campaign, a call for creative expression about mental health and well-being.

Purpose of the Campaign:

To educate students about the importance of mental health and well-being and encourage them to use their creativity to:

  • Increase mental health and well-being awareness.
  • Reduce mental health stigma.
  • Explore self-care.
  • Consider the importance of connection to others.

How to use #CreateConnectCare with Students

The #CreateConnectCare campaign can be integrated into classrooms and youth development programming in several ways:

1

As a teacher-guided activity that aligns with existing curriculum across various subject areas.

2

As a facilitator-administered activity in extracurricular or after-school programming across various interest areas.

3

As a self-guided activity that allows students to complete their projects on their own time and in their own space.
